Our Shop & Showroom
We have a shop and showroom at 1004 Humffray St South open to the general public. The shop is at the front of our factory in the same building and there’s plenty of free parking on-site. We have a sheep (her name is Molly) on our awning over the automatic doors.
The shop has no stairs and we keep our aisles wide enough where possible to accommodate electric wheelchairs and scooters. We have a curtained unisex change room and toilet facilities and a toddler play corner to entertain younger children while parents browse.
We accept cash and EFTPOS including Visa and Mastercard. We do not currently accept American Express or Diners cards. Cheques will be accepted by prior agreement with management and will require photo ID. Our website offers AfterPay but we are not currently able to offer AfterPay in-store.
An extensive range of baby blankets; homewares; socks; beanies; men’s fashion jumpers; ladies fashion jumpers; workwear jumpers; Outdoor jumpers; caps and jackets can be viewed, tried for size and purchased in store. We also stock the full uniform lines for two local schools and keep a range of hi-vis workwear and office uniforms for purchase over the counter.
All factory seconds are priced to clear and added to our ‘sale bins’ as they occur. This means if you are able to fix minor flaws in knitwear, or don’t mind wearing them, you can grab yourself a great bargain!
Our embroidery machine is located within the shop and customers can often watch it working through the week.
Why we are different
We make all our knitwear on-site. We have knitting and sewing machines and qualified staff who can help you to place custom orders. If you have trouble getting regular garments to fit, we can make something to order including:
- Knitted jumpers for very tall men and women;
- Knitting extra length into one or both sleeves as required;
- Removing length from a standard sized jumper or sleeve;
- Making a custom shoulder width, either wider or narrower;
- Knitting up to 7XL/size 32 to our patterns;
- Knitting larger than 7XL from a supplied sample;
- Knitting hi-vis and other work jumpers in petite adult sizes;
- Custom embroidery on most garments including socks;
- We can knit your chosen style in your chosen colour and size;
- Most garments have a choice of crew or vee neck;
In most cases, there is a small $20 inc GST fee added to the RRP of the garment chosen to cover extra quality control with the adjustments and you will need to leave a minimum non-refundable 20% deposit at the time of ordering. There are no extra hidden costs to have a garment made to fit you properly.
We are unable to replicate your old favourite jumper (due to intellectual property rights) and the colours and sizes in our Branberry range are set, but we do have flexibility in our Ballarat Gold; Worksmart and Outdoor ranges. If you have an even trickier requirement please let us know and we’ll see if we can accommodate you.
We do not offer standard clothing alterations on garments other than the ones we have made – we recommend Sew Darn Special in Sebastopol if you require such a service.
Shop and Showroom Opening Hours
Are you open public holidays?
We are a small team of mostly production workers and we value time away from work with our families. At this stage we are also not open on the Saturday directly before or after a public holiday. Even though we are in Ballarat, we do observe the Melbourne Cup public holiday.
Do you have layby facilities?
Yes we do have layby facilities
And we don’t charge any fees. You may place a laybe on any non-sale item at any time during the year (including school uniforms) and make payments when you can until the balance is paid. Laybys are ideally to be paid in full and collected within four months of their start date. A 10% minimum deposit is required if you place a layby and this is not refundable if you cancel the layby after 30 days.
Do you offer pensioner discounts?
We do not offer pensioner discounts.
Our garments are priced at the lower end of the market for Australian Made Pure Australian Merino Wool and our pricing is determined by the weight of the wool in the garment and the hours of labour it took to make. A lot of our Ballarat Gold and Branberry items are hand-linked and hand-finished, so instead of offering pensioner discounts, we offer fair pricing across our range.
Do you take Amex or Diners?
We feel the fees are too high to justify offering these options and we don’t feel comfortable passing the fees on to you.
Do you have AfterPay in-store?
We do have AfterPay on our website so you are welcome to try on garments for size (or touch and feel a blanket in person) and then order them through our website using AfterPay with a click and collect option.
